A crisis update informed the Ukrainian Committee that the Minister of Defense has allegedly been involved in crimes of corruption, such as building a nuclear silo and gathering forces and training refugees for the military to assassinate the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.
The alleged crimes could potentially result in a trial, consequently censuring and relinquishing the powers of the Minister of Defense. Given that there is no actual physical evidence to incriminate him of the alleged crimes, most delegates believe that an investigation should be conducted before actually proceeding with the trial; others argue that time is of the essence for Ukraine. A country awash in civil war, Ukraine needs to focus on other impending matters, says the Minister of Defense in his defense. In addition, these allegations could potentially be a tactic by someone in the committee itself to replace him. Rebel Leader Donetsk People’s Republic proposes the trial be outsourced to a country like the US or the UK.
The Minister of Defense epitomizes indomitable strength by taking on tough questions through a Q&A session from the committee. However, following the Q&A, the overall sentiment remains that there has been a massive failure within the armed forces, and someone needs to be held accountable. Doing so is imperative for the country at large.
